The Walton Art Network - The Arts Trail 2026
The Walton Art Network is the name of the festival arts trail around locations in Walton on the Naze. Most of the art was displayed in the windows or interiors of shops and venues around the town centre, with some art in the churches and boat yards. Over 30 participating artists showed their work over the weekend and are listed here and on the festival map. Many more took part in group exhibitions during the festival.

Jane Stewart’s work at Bruff is a large abstract ink drawing created while listening to a specific album and using parts of the musical instruments used in the said album. The piece of music is an iconic work, well known to most, and a prize will be given to whoever guesses the album.

An artwork by Angenita Teekens depicting a walk on the North Dengie Coast, South of the River Blackwater, starting at Bradwell A, a decommissioned Nuclear Power station and ending at St. Peter’s Chapel. The map is made with clay pigments from the land it depicts and Cyanotype a A Blue colour made visible using the energy of light. It tells a story of earth and land, of heating up, drying, soaking and extraction.

Third Hand Exhibition
A group exhibition responding to the Second Hand exhibition held at The Nose earlier this year. The exhibition, including works by Jane Stewart, Kirsten Houser, Luke Anthony Rooner, Tilly Shiner, Victoria Walsh and Shane Waltener, further explores notions of repurposing ideas, objects and materials and how these are passed on and shared in creative process, whether individual or collaborative.

'Exploring Walton's Secret Backwaters'
A photo exhibition by members of the local 'Not A Camera Club' at the Walton and Frinton Yacht Club exploring Walton's Secret Backwaters' and inspired by Swallows and Amazons' author Arthur Ransome's book, 'Secret Water' which was set in the backwaters in the 1930s. This exhibition celebrates the beauty and stillness of this international nature reserve, with 50 images of a wide variety of views and subjects.
To accompany the exhibition there will be a free boat trip around the backwaters, organised by the Walton and Frinton Yacht Club. The boat will visit various locations of the photos and there will be commentary from backwaters expert, Chris Opperman, who will read excerpts from the Secret Water book and provide local anecdotes. The boat will leave from the Yacht Club at around 4pm on Saturday 19th September. Fully Booked.
