Celebrating the days of vinyl, Format Records are digging out their favourite album sleeves and the albums and the stories behind them as part of the Walton Arts Festival 20th-22nd September. They may not necessarily be classic or iconic designs, just the sleeves that Format love, so be prepared to be surprised.
Remember when… It seems unbelievable, but those of us old enough to recall some of our favourite albums (yes, album or "LP") sleeves are now witnessing new generations discovering and falling in love with the whole experience of the music and the culture that went with vinyl. And it all seemed to be ending in the 90s.
When you visit their exhibition at 8 High Street, you’ll be invited to list your exhibition
favourites and a Between the Tides TOP TWENTY will be produced.
Visit the exhibition from Friday, September 20 and, if you fancy musical entertainment as
well, Format will be hosting Narcotic Hearts at 2.30pm on Saturday, September 21 and then NDGE at 4.00pm.
Narcotic Hearts are a flamboyantly-shirted four piece playing trashy, ‘outsider’ pop, sonically stomping between glam, power pop and new wave. NDGE (pronounced "NUDGE") sustain the vibe with outrageous styling and unique fizzing electro-pop.
Can’t wait.
