Continuing the summer programme of fundraising events for ‘Between the Tides’, the Walton Feel Good Choir is excited to showcase their Summer Concert at All Saints Church, Walton, returning after a year away due to taking a break last year. Open to all, the concert will offer a wide range of musical genres, presenting an evening of delightful entertainment suitable for all ages.

Choir Director Lisa Strong, who has extensive experience leading community choirs, founded the Walton Feel Good Choir in September 2018 after completing her Occupational Therapy degree. Her goal was to create a thriving community hub where local people come together, build friendships and experience the positive impact of singing together in a group.

Since its formation, the non-profit choir has developed into a prospering community hub, bringing together those from all walks of life. While music is at its centre, the choir is equally focused on encouraging connection, inclusion and wellbeing amongst its members. For Lisa, “the choir is a family… it’s about connection, not perfection.” The singing is a joyful result of people coming together and supporting one another as a unit.

The Feel Good Choir supports the vision behind Between the Tides. As a child growing up in Walton, Lisa had fond memories of Walton Carnival and the town’s folk festivals. Like many in the town, she became concerned that some of these important traditions were starting to fade. Between the Tides offers an exciting revival of pride in place in Walton-on-the-Naze, celebrating local people while creating new opportunities for connection through arts and culture.

The Summer Concert offers an evening full of uplifting music, community, and a few surprises along the way. Whether a long-time supporter of the choir or attending for the first time, all are warmly invited to join and help support a fantastic local cause!

Funds raised during the festival’s fundraising events will help pay for musicians, art workshops, storytellers, and family activities throughout the festival. If you would like to show your support for the Walton Arts Festival, please consider donating to and sharing the festival’s GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/between-the-tides-family-friendly-arts-festival-in-walton

The volunteer festival team will also be organising fundraising collections at a variety of upcoming events across Walton, providing further opportunities to support the festival’s future success.
