The Between the Tides Arts Trail 2026 17th-20th September celebrates the unique talents of local artists living and working in and around Walton on the Naze.

In 36 separate exhibitions spread throughout the town, you can view original paintings, sculptures, chinoiserie, photography, jewellery, and works in textiles, driftwood, wicker and other materials, largely inspired by our local land and seascapes.

Explore Walton’s Town Centre, discovering artworks in shops and cafe windows, or sit and enjoy them while having a bite to eat. You can see Miranda Boxall’s paintings in Beside the Seaside cafe, Barry Kirrage’s assemblages in High Tide Taco Bar, and Jane Ostler’s artwork in Whites Pie and Mash restaurant. Yates Fish Bar windows will host the A5 artwork competition entries. Visit East Coast Gallery for an immersive storytelling artwork based on the Tiganites tale 11-4pm. The Nose has a textile-inspired ‘Third Hand’ exhibition, and Walton wall panels from the Slow Stitch Club.

You can also enjoy artworks in the scenic local landscape which inspired them by visiting the ‘Exploring Walton’s Secret Waters’ photography exhibition at Walton and Frinton Yacht Club, or by visiting the Autumn exhibition at The Naze Tower with Lucia Hardy’s Plein Air live painting session. Victoria Anna Halliburton is showing work in Harbour Lights at Titchmarsh Marina, and Shane Waltener has made a site-responsive installation on The Naze. We are excited to welcome back Gert-Jan van der Kooij, who will be raking large-scale drawings on Albion Beach on Saturday and Sunday morning.
