Musicians, poets and performers are being invited to take part in a fundraising open mic night ahead of the return of this year's Walton Art Festival.

The Between the Tides fundraiser will take place at the Walton Tavern on August 22, providing an opportunity for performers to take to the stage while raising money for the Festival.

The event will run from 7pm to 11pm and is expected to feature a mix of music, poetry, acoustic performances and spoken word acts. Turn up on the night and put your name on the board to perform.

Organiser Ian McKeowen, who is active on the Tendring live music scene and is involved with Clacton Arts Centre, said the evening is intended to celebrate the area's creative talent while helping support the wider festival.

He added: “The evening's open to poetry, acoustic, anything people want to do, and hopefully we'll be able to raise a bit more money for the festival during the evening.

"There's a load of local talent out there and we want to celebrate that with the Open Mic and get people warmed up for the Festival in September."

The fundraiser comes ahead of the return of Between the Tides, Walton Arts Festival, which will run from September 17 to September 20th all around Walton On The Naze.
